Berallerhütte-Kotalm

in the heart of the Wilde Wasser hiking area - Riesachsee

Welcome to the Berallerhütt – your cosy stopover in the Riesach Valley, in the middle of the Wilde Wasser hiking area. At our rustic Berallerhütte, you can enjoy traditional alpine snacks, regional specialities and homemade products such as Steirerkas cheese, alpine butter and genuine, natural buttermilk.

Our alpine hut is open from around the beginning of July to mid-September and invites hikers on their way from Riesachsee to Preintalerhütte to take a break. Here you can expect peace and quiet, cosiness and fresh energy for the rest of your journey.

We offer hearty snacks and typical dishes from Styrian alpine cuisine – from Styrian cheese bread and alpine butter bread to classic Brettljause platters and delicious buttermilk. Our fresh alpine products, produced directly on the alpine pasture, are particularly popular: alpine butter, Ennstal Styrian cheese – you can enjoy them on site or take them home with you.

Wanderungen rund um die Kotalm

Our Berallerhütte is located on well-known hiking trails.

Here are two of our favourite hiking tours:
Klafferkessel Tour: You should plan 8 to 10 hours for this royal tour in the Schladminger Tauern – ideally, it can also be divided into several stages. You will be rewarded with tranquil mountain lakes, idyllic scenery and fantastic views of the surrounding Dachstein region.

Sonntagskarseen: The alpine trail ‘durch die Höll’ (through hell) is easy to master on the tour to these two lakes (approx. 3.5 hours each way). Framed by the peaks of the Waldhorn and Kieseck, the lakes lie in a beautiful valley basin.
